Community Conversation

What is a Community Conversation?

Community conversations are conducted as a dialogue with the objective of discovering common ground. To begin by sharing our stories allows everyone to interact in safety and on even footing, and to develop shared understandings and values.

Each person will have time to speak when ready, without interruptions, questions, or comments until everyone has had a chance to speak. Once everyone has spoken, we will open up the circle to more informal interaction, to explore ideas for possible action.

Our Topic: How have you experienced climate change?

The evening when on Nov 18 the Butternut wildfire began, we had no inkling of the outcome.  It brought too close to home the recent fires from Canada to California.  News coverage of hurricane damage in the mountainous area of Asheville, NC reveals how unpredictable and overwhelming the onslaught can be.

Changes brought by climate change cannot be ignored. How do we as a community, neighborhood, and a region feel about our own safety and responsibility? What are individual and group actions that can begin to address this problem?

Please RSVP at https://forms.gle/rq7JVUbdhcX3XSYV9 and spread the word to your friends and neighbors! The community conversation is free and open to all.
